Friday Funny: First Edition

Today I'm doing something new: we're having a brand new section called "Friday Funny", yay! Are you as excited as I am? For a while now, I want to do something for this blog that makes everyone happy and then I thought to myself, "Why not putting some funny pictures up in here? Dust out my GRE book, it's time to study for that exam.<br />3. Find a new program to apply<br />4. Prepare materials for next week (hopefully!)<br />5. Watch Ugly Betty and Grey's Anatomy: I'm a big Grey's fan y'all!<br /></p><br /><span id="fullpost"><br /><p><strong>5 Things that I would do if I were a millionaire:</strong><br /></p><p>Nowadays, being a millionaire is not like how it used to be: a million US dollars is around 500-600,000 euros => not worth that much money anymore. Anyways, if I got a million U.S dollars, here is my plan:<br /></p><p>1. Go out and have myself a nice dinner<br />2. Save some money for the rainy days, preferably in a Swiss bank<br />3. Set money to take my parents around the world<br />4. Buy myself a house, in cash so whatever happened after that I have a house to live<br />5. Fantasy Makers Eyeshadow Duo: Really Affordable Pigmented Colors

Remember my first black nail polish <a href="http://mymakeupblog.blogspot.com/2008/10/fantasy-makers-nail-polish-in-black.html">Black Rose</a>? During the time I got it, I also purchased two eyeshadow duos. As I was impressed with Black Rose, Fantasy Makers Eyeshadow Duos also satisfied me a lot with their price and pigmentation. I got two duos from them called Sumptuous and Smolder for $1.65 per duo(!) At first, I thought the colors would be pale and non pigmented. Sumptuous has the most wearable purple shades I've ever owned and I think they are the perfect day-time purple eye shadows. Smolder is more for the night-time clubbing and the darker color is a doppelganger of MAC Flashtrack. I swiped twice to get the swatch on Smolder while did about 4 times to get the same intensity to the Flashtrack swatch. Also, I got 2 colors for $1.65 USD and $14.50 USD for Flashtrack. Talking about math, right?<br /><br />Like other Wet n' Wild eyeshadows, these colors are not as finely milled. However, they are much more pigmented than the regular Wet n' Wild (and MAC!), which is the biggest surprise of the day. They remind me a lot of theater makeup in term of pigmentation. I don't own anything from Ben Nye or La Femme so I can't compare but I doubt they are any less pigmented. The duos are currently sold at Wal-Mart and Walgreens. So far, those are the two duos I've seen, if they got more I could have gotten them all.<br /><br />That's all folks! I'm thinking of doing a FOTD for Halloween with all the makeup I have. Demure FOTD

I looked back at the content of my entries recently and realized I did not post any new FOTDs for approximately 2 weeks. If you're wondering what's going on, let me tell you why: after the Ungaro release, I began doing the same look over and over again using the same group of colors. I think the ultra-feminine side of me finally took over and I'm now enjoying soft pink eye shadows! So for the past 2 weeks, I sported the cutest pink makeup ever. This look is pretty but not girly, it does not scream "I'm obsessed with pink!" but gives a sophisticated vibe. You can foil (apply wet) the color if you want a more intense level of color saturation.</span></li><li><span id="fullpost">Adorable is applied as a contouring color using a blending brush. I personally prefer a lot of pink to contour to bring out more pink-ness in the look. However, if you prefer to have a more neutral look, apply this color lightly. An alternative to Adorable is <a href="http://mymakeupblog.blogspot.com/2008/10/hard-candy-eye-candy-in-taffy-simply.html">Hard Candy Taffy</a> eyeshadow since they look similar to each other.</span></li><li><span id="fullpost">Using the same brush, apply Brilliant to the area underneath the eyebrow to highlight.</span></li><li><span id="fullpost">Using a black liquid eyeliner to line your eyes and apply 2 coats of black mascara.</span></li></ul><span id="fullpost">Cheeks: AwG Sassy blush, a very cute pink blush, using a stippling brush. Mally Roncal: My Makeup Super Heroine

I did not start wearing full makeup until the end of 2002 when I transferred to a 4-year college. At that time, I wanted to look more grown up and more put together so wearing makeup was the way to go. All of my makeup experience so far is self-taught, mostly from reading books, magazines, and watching T.V. However, as a starter, I did not know where to start and what to do so I ended up wearing lots of makeup and looking (almost) like a drag queen. My classmates thankfully were too busy studying to notice. Needless to say, my eyes were glued to the TV for the whole 30 minutes when Mally introduced to me some fantabulous products that I'm still using today. During that time, foundations were mostly peach-tone and I had a very hard time finding the perfect shade for me. However, seeing an Asian woman on TV who is really knowledgeable and down to earth while looking fabulous gave me hope that better makeup would come to minority people. And it did, about a year later L'Oreal launched True Match, my prayer was answered.<br /><span id="fullpost"><br />Anyways, back to why I love Mally Roncal. Later on, I found out that she is a makeup artist for Beyonce, J.Lo, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey and a whole lot of other stars. Looking at Beyonce at the "Crazy in Love" time, you see she started to look more like herself than before, right? That's all because of Mally. During this Style Network fanatic period of mine, I learned a lot and whenever Mally was on, I started to watch and learn. Here are the 10 most important things I picked up from her through the years:<br /><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">1. L'Oreal Voluminous:</span> this is my go-to mascara that Mally mentioned in that episode. If I need a mascara when dazed and confused, I would pick a L'Oreal Voluminous. Anything that performs less than a Voluminous is not worth mentioning to me. This mascara never fails and if you use the waterproof version, it stays on and on and on.<br /><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">2. A brown eyeliner:</span> I picked up my first brown eyeliner the next day I saw that episode and it was Revlon Teakwood. I used it for a couple of years and it was the softest, silkiest, and most smudgeable brown eyeliner ever. Until today when I have my Teddy eye kolh, I still miss that Teakwood. And btw, you need a brown eyeliner stat! You don't know what you've been missing until you have a brown liner.<br /><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">3. Contour to have a high nose bridge:</span> this trick I saw recently and upon application, I stared at myself and said, "Holy cow, who are you?" Her makeup nose job works y'all, and I'm going to post a contour tutorial soon.<br /><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">4. Smokey eyes:</span> if you see her anywhere, chances are she has smokey eyes on. And she looks good wearing the smokey. Mally and an Australian friend of mine are 2 people contributed to my smokey eyes obsession and I have to say, when you are confused just go smokey. The look works and it's not that hard to do. I even have a category for it (<a href="http://mymakeupblog.blogspot.com/search/label/FOTD%3A%20Smokey">click here</a>)<br /><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">5. Blushes:</span> they actually grow much slower in me as my usual default cheek color is pink. However, recently I got some peach, tan, and brick tone blushes and they all work for me. Blushes enhance the color of your cheeks and give you that healthy glow.<br /><br />Beside being a makeup artist, a wife, and a mother, Mally is also an entrepreneur with her own makeup line called Mally Beauty. I haven't tried anything from her yet but hopefully I am going to get my hands on them soon. Also, it is going to be a nice day here when we get to interview her, right?
